CredIT Crunch – beat the downturn

Just come across a great free resource for tracking real-time website activity – FootPrint – that really complements the normal tools used to analyse website visits such as Google Analytics. It only takes a few minutes to sign up and you then immediately get new information  about visitor session – as they take place!

1. Real-time website traffic analysis
   
2. Individual visitor clickpaths
3. Visitor profiles; search term, referer, IP address
4. A complete picture of your website traffic.

I guess it’s up to you how you use this information to improve the quality of your sight but so far I’m impressed. The best way to check out the features is to visit their website. There are some great screen shots like this one that show you what website visitor data you can collect for a few minutes effort

But in the meantime here are some instructions on how to add FootPrintLive – real-time web analytics tracking to your WordPress site or blog.

1. Register with FootPrintLive specifying your WordPress website URL, and receive their introductory registration email.
2. This should include code similar to this

3. Login in to your WordPress installation and click on the appearance option in  the left-hand column
4. Select the Current Theme Option – sub menu item
5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and paste the code your received from FootPrintLive.com by email in to the Web Analytics field
6. Make sure the “Add web analytics code to your site. (e.g. Google Analytics, Yahoo! Web Analytics, …)” check box just above the Web Analytics text field is selected if not already done so.
   
7. Save these option changes and visit your WordPress site to catch some data
8. Login to your FootPrintLive account and see your data!
