Stop and redirect invalid URL requests to your Jobberbase website
In the interest of helping others out there, my Jobberbase website (http://www.industryjobs.co.uk/) has recently been the subject to numerous invalid URL request.
Presumably these are linked to an exploit / automated script request. Typically, they appear in the web logs as 404 error as either,
-
/post//RK=0/RS={random numbers and letters}
or
-
/post/+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Result:+chosen+nickname+.....
Based on a quick search I’ve updated my .htaccess file at the root of the website to include the following mod_reqwrite rules which see to fix the problem and redirect the requests to the site’s homepage.
RewriteEngine on # http://stackoverflow.com/questions/24763239/rewriterule-for-html-rk-0-rs-random-string RewriteRule ^(.*)/RK=0/RS= / [L,NC,R=301] # http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18311043/mod-rewrite-resultchosennickname22preorrinkap22 RewriteRule ^(.*)\+Result:\+chosen\+nickname\+(.*)$ / [R=301,L]
The URL’s in the comments make reference to the web pages I got the help from in making these redirect statements – thanks to those authors / contributors for their help.
Pretty sure similar RewriteRule’s would work with your WordPress, Joomla, Drupal or any other website if it is suffering the same fate
I love your feedback – thanks!
